Protect your Kindle with an airbag

Mobiles and Smartphones have become common these days and so the need to protect them has increased as well. But the way a car has an airbag for safety, your Smartphone also will get the same level of protection. If you are really concerned about the safety of your Smartphone or even laptop for that matter, Amazon is at your help.
Amazon has developed a technology that will assist in protecting the gadgets with the help of motion-sensor. Amazon will be banking on the technology of motion sensor that almost every Smartphone uses today. The new Amazon technology helps in detecting the motion and making out if a phone has slipped out of your hands.
Image: en.wikipedia.org
It then opens up a mini airbag and saves the phone from getting damaged. The technology in this system is more or less the same as that of used in a car. It is the impact that matters and that is when the airbag comes into play. Amazon has already gone ahead and patented the system. It is known that the patent has already been approved in the United States.
They plan to use it for gadgets like the in-house Kindle, tablets and cameras. The technology decides how hard the impact could possibly be and thereupon activates the system.

Samsung Galaxy S3 overtakes Apple iPhone

The fight between Samsung Galaxy S3 and Apple iPhone seems to be a never-ending affair. It was a sort of victory for Samsung for the third quarter. For a brief while, it was the Samsung product that proved to be the Smartphone model with the highest sells in the world, overtaking Apple.
The Smartphone from Samsung go the better of iPhone 4 as well as 4S as far as the sales are concerned. However, with the iPhone 5 doing extremely well in the markets all over the world, the cushioning Samsung has secured might not last too long. Apple is certain to bounce back with their latest Smartphone.
The sales figures for the Apple device are humongous. Until Q3, the company had sold around 6 million units worldwide. Keeping that in mind, the sales of the Apple gadget are likely to overtake Samsung’s Galaxy S3 anytime during the fourth quarter.
If things fall as expected, the title of the most popular and well-accepted Smartphone will go to Apple.

Now your Google search pages will have a new look

Google has changed the way your search pages will look. The idea behind the change is to give its users a more engaging atmosphere. So the next time you search anything on Google, you will be welcomed by a new page where you will have simpler looks and a cleaner design.
Image: siliconangle.com
There is more space for the users due to the new design and there is enough to give the users the answers they are looking for. Whether there are the web results or anything from the Knowledge Graph, it is a win-win situation for the users anyhow.
The change that Google has made is that they have taken the tools to the top of the page, thereby giving more space to the left hand side of the screen as well. The advanced tools that you are used to are still there to be used. The users are required to click the “Search tools”.
In the older version of the search page, the categories like News, Blogs, or Images were on the left hand side. Google is trying to cater as much to the users as possible by making changes in the search results, brining out tablets as well as many other services they are already offering.

Get the Microsoft Windows 8 for just Rs. 1,999

The new operating system by Microsoft – the Windows 8, is being offered for only handful bucks of Rs. 1,999. With the price tag of not even Rs. 2,000, Microsoft is trying to target the tens of thousands of people who are either eager or curious to lay their hands on the new OS.
The US based company is looking forward to gaining a reasonable amount of customers through the low-priced edition. However, this discount on the price is short-lived. No one should take for granted that the price tag of Rs. 1,999 is the cost of the operating system for ever. The original price of the Windows 8 is a whopping Rs. 11,999.

If you are aspiring to buy a licensed copy of the OS, then you have time until January 31, 2013. That is the deadline Microsoft has given to the potential buyers. An upgrade DVD is also available that comes at Rs. 3,499. However, if you have purchased the Windows 7 after June this year, you will get an upgrade at only Rs. 699.
These are all strong measures the company has taken to boost their sales as there are free open-source platforms available as well. So it was a tricky situation for Microsoft to balance things. It seems Windows 8 is the key here.

In five months, Samsung sells 30 million Galaxy S III phones

Samsung, that has become the highest phone producer in the world, brought the phone out in the month of May. It was very early and in fact, well within time as the company had started to ship the latest and the newest version of the phone.
If the sales of this version are compared with the previous one, the sales of the Galaxy S III are faster and higher as far as the volume of time is concerned. The difference in the time slab is about nine months. That is a huge difference in the world of Smartphones and technology.
It took about 14 months for the Galaxy S II to reach the figure of 30 million sales. In the period from July to September, Samsung sold about 56.3 million Smartphones versus as against 26.9 million units from Apple. The figures are curtsey IDC – a research firm.

A small bit of information about Window 8

A lot of hype has been created around the latest operating system – the Windows 8 by Microsoft. Many people are terming this as an experience they have hardly had in the field of computers. However, as this OS still in its infancy, there are many things that need to be told from the scratch.
But before beginning, do you know that there are a couple of versions to Windows 8. It is designed exclusively for the touch screen use. This will make the laptops and even computers function exactly like a tab does. There is no doubt that Microsoft has indeed brought out something new. But don’t forget that there is still the option of using the good old mouse and the keyboard as well.
Here is a users’ guide to Windows 8.

You should be aware of the fact that Windows 8 has two versions – the Windows 8 and the Windows RT. Their visual appearance might not be too distinct from each other. However, both of them work on diverse processing chips. When on one hand Windows 8 runs on chips from Intel and AMD, the Windows RT can work on smaller tabs and on hybrids of laptop and tab.
Navigation for the new Windows 8
After you start, a picture greets you upfront. Swipe from bottom to top to go to the next screen. If you are using a keyboard or a mouse, just hit a key and you are done. The next screen shows the Mosaic of Live Tiles. They indicate an app. Windows 8 programs will run her comfortably. If you wish to open apps that are for the old Windows version, it will shop up like your old desktop computer. Switching between Metro – the unofficial name of the new environment, and the new desktop is easy.
There is no ‘Start’ button for Windows 8. However, programs can be started with the help of the Metro tiles. To get back to the original screen, you can do so with a mouse or with a touch screen as well. If you are using a mouse, get your mouse cursor towards the top hand right corner of your screen and then do swipe it downwards towards ‘Start’. With a touch screen, swipe from the right side of the screen.

One billion users use Smartphones today

Today there are one billion Smartphone users in the world. It was hardly five years ago that the iPhone has released in the market. The figures were released after an associated report was released yesterday. The findings were carried out the US firm Strategy Analytics.
One billion users with a smartphone means one out of around seven people in the world do use this device. The magical number was attained during the third quarter – July to September, of the current calendar year.
Image: etftrends.com
It should be noted that Nokia Communicator, the first ever smartphone came into being way back in 1996. However, the demand for such devices shot up tremendously after Apple released the iPhone around five years back in 2007.
The iPhone had a big role to play in the popularity of the device. The design played a major part in the success of the gadget. However, it is interesting to note that countries like India, China and parts of Africa still have to experience the world of Smartphones in the true sense.
Though Apple stands out when it comes to Smartphones and has tasted success with iPhone 5, companies like Samsung still remain their biggest challengers.

Apple cannot hold the copyright for tablet; loses against Samsung

In an important ruling Apple has lost against Samsung an important copyright appeal over the design Samsung was accused of copying. The ruling could potentially put an end to the legal fight between the two giant firms that spread almost all across Europe. The fight was over the patent for Smartphones as well as tablets.
Image: osxdaily.com
The Court of Appeal in the UK did not reverse the decision taken by the High Court earlier that though there were some types of similarities between the designs of the phones by the two companies, the Galaxy Tablet from Samsung did not gatecrash the designs made by Apple because the Samsung products weren’t ‘cool’.
The decision stands for the entire Europe. So this means, there would be no legalities involved between the two manufacturers as far as the design is concerned for the European region. There were no comments from Apple as yet. That is not all. Apple has to also carry out ads in some selected newspapers as well as their web site that Samsung didn’t copy their designs.
There was enthusiasm in the Samsung camp saying that Apple wasn’t the first company to design a table that carried rounded corners to a rectangular shaped gadget.

It should be noted that the iPhone 5 has a 4” display, which is an improvement over it comparatively smaller iPhone 4S display. In spite of this, the Samsung has something more up its sleeve in the form of better specifications for the display screen.

The above findings were observed by Vinita Jakhanwal, who is the director for small and medium displays, IHS iSuppli. According to her the differences are quite subtle and might not even matter to the users. She further added that the display of the iPhone 5 was about 1.5 mm in thickness while that of the Galaxy S III was only 1.1 mm.

Experts and buffs in the field take this launch as one of the most important for the company and feel that the very existence of Nokia is based on these two phones. However, the phones can be brought in the market only in November. That means the company has to make do with the older phones for the entire October, which might prove to be a challenging task.
Life has indeed been tough for Nokia. The company has lost as many as $3.86 billion in a year and a half. Moreover, Nokia also had to face tough competition from other companies and fell behind in the race.
